The earth is divided into 24 time zones, with the Prime Meridian on one side of the earth and the International Date Line on the other.
When it is noon on the Prime Meridian, then on the other side of the earth, the International Date Line is at midnight, The time zone to the west of the International Date Line (in the Eastern Hemisphere) is on the same day as the Prime Meridian. The time zone to the east of the International Date Line (in the Western Hemisphere) is still the day before the day you would be, if standing on the prime Meridian
